Pontus Frithiof is a chef, restaurateur, and entrepreneur. He began his career at the age of 15 in 1987 as an apprentice under the renowned chef Erik Lallerstedt. Subsequently, Pontus traveled to work at Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris, where he also established his first catering company for Swedish business leaders. Thanks to the support of financier and media mogul Jan Stenbeck, Pontus had the opportunity to open his first restaurant, Pontus in the Green House, in 1999, which shortly thereafter was named Sweden's best restaurant.
Since then, much has happened, and today Pontus is a well-known name in the industry and among the general public. The Pontus Group, the company he founded, currently operates approximately 10 establishments, employs over 100 people, and Pontus is actively involved in every aspect, driving efforts to improve the industry. Pontus Catering, launched in 1999, continues to successfully deliver food and beverages to individuals and businesses, offering top-notch events.
Pontus began his career in fine dining, which has contributed to the group's DNA, with a focus on fine dining and casual à la carte. The flagship is the luxury restaurant La Tour and Le Bar on the 23rd floor of the DN Building in Stockholm. At Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, Pontus operates, among other things, the American Express Lounge and the bistro La Girafe. Other examples of restaurants include Pontus! in Sälen at SkiStar Lodge Hundfjället and PicPoc at AC Hotel by Marriott, Stockholm.
Over the years, Pontus has received awards such as Restaurateur of the Year, Business Restaurant of the Year, and has been awarded the Gold Medal by the Gastronomic Academy. He has also authored two cookbooks.
